The best Security Suite for 2009....

very Light on System Resources & Hard on Viruses & Threats.

The Good: Internet Security 2009 has a leaner footprint, improved speed, white listing and other technologies to mark clean files as trusted, and free technical support.
The Bad: Despite its free telephone support, Norton Internet Security 2009 lacks adequate online technical support and, either intentionally or not, drives users to its paid technical support services.
The Bottom Line: Norton Internet Security 2009 hits all the right security notes and its superior protection technologies might even win back some jaded anti-Symantec folks, though for some technical support may continue to frustrate.
Most users have a love-hate relationship with their security software. They love the protection from online and other threats, but they hate the way the software drags down their daily activities. This past spring, Symantec Senior Vice President Rowan Trollope detailed Symantec's all-out effort to reduce the Norton suite's impact on performance. And, what do you know—it worked! Norton Internet Security 2009 (INR 3,499 direct for three licenses) affects performance less than any suite I've tested.
Performance Features
As noted, this edition of the suite is all about performance. The utility is designed from the bottom up both to stay out of your way and todemonstrate that it's staying out of your way. The main window includes a big CPU usage meter that separately tracks system-wide usage and usage specific to Norton. When the system seems bogged down, you can see at a glance what's to blame.
Proven Performance
To check the suite's effect on system performance, I gathered a collection of scripts and batch files that measure how long certain common system actions take to execute. I averaged the results from a number of test runs with no security suite installed, then performed numerous runs with Norton installed and averaged those results. I repeated the tests once more after installing and enabling parental control, but the numbers weren't significantly different.
